We don’t want to wish the summer away, but we are already looking forward to September when we gather for RISE West 2024 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Why? Read on to find out what we’ve planned and why this is one event you don’t want to miss.
RISE West, the premiere Medicare Advantage senior leadership conference of the year, will take place September 11-13 at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Here are just a few of the reasons we are so excited to pack our bags and attend this year’s event.
1. Brand new preconference workshop topics*
We’ve added three new topics to our popular preconference workshops on Wednesday, Sept. 11. The only problem will be deciding which one to attend!
Workshop A: Implementing an Outpatient Clinical Documentation (CDI) Program: This full-day interactive program offers participants the building blocks of implementing a strong outpatient CDI program at their organization. It is designed for administrators, coding/CDI professionals, and health care leaders who want to take their value-based health care efforts to the next level.
Workshop B: AI is Here to Stay: This afternoon half-day workshop focuses on practical applications, emerging risks, and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) in the managed care sector. This session is designed for health plan professionals and health care providers who have a beginner to intermediate knowledge of AI.
Workshop C: Operational Excellence in Medicare Advantage Plan Management: This new afternoon half-day preconference is an interactive workshop and team-based game that offers an opportunity to dive into the complexities and strategies of managing a Medicare Advantage health plan. The session is designed for newcomers and seasoned professionals, who will walk away with takeaways for budget management and practical strategies to enhance plan performance.
Workshop D: Embracing Authentic Leadership–A Workshop for Rising Stars: This new afternoon half-day preconference is limited to 35 attendees and is designed for health care professionals who want to make meaningful steps toward the next steps in their career. The workshop is a mix of theory, lived experience, and interactivity shared by workshop leaders.
*All preconference workshops require additional registration and session fee.
2. Women’s health care leadership panel
A Women4Women Brunch N’ Learn will take place 10:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Breakfast will be served to attendees of this session, which requires additional registration and a fee. The panel discussion, Closing the Gap in Health Care Leadership, will features stories from women leaders in health care, with takeaways on how they got to where they are, tips on navigating the corporate ladder, and how women can help others within their organization and in their community.
3. A can’t-miss session from OIG
The first full day of the main conference on Thursday, Sept. 12, will kick off at 9 a.m. with a presentation by the HHS Office of Inspector General. Carolyn Kapustij, senior advisor for managed care, will offer insights on areas of risk for Medicare Advantage plans, providers, and downstream entities and what to anticipate in the future.
4. Three inspiring keynote speakers
We’ll kick off the conference at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 with an opening keynote with Heather “Lucky” Penney, who will recount her experience on the morning of 9/11, when she and her flight lead were sent on a suicide mission against Flight 93. The F-16 fighter pilot will reflect on the extraordinary heroism of the passengers and will show how we, too, can choose to cultivate our own inner hero.
Paralympic Swimmer and Inclusivity Expert Jonathan Heider Laedtke will offer his unique outlook on resiliency and determination during this special presentation at 11:55 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12. As a congenital quad amputee, seasoned paralympic swimmer, and accessibility designer, Laedtke thrives to find unique solutions to overcome any form of obstacle. His keynote will also feature ways in which health care can be more inclusive for all.
Hadley Vlahos, a hospice nurse and best-selling author, will present a keynote on lessons and wisdom on end-of-life care at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, the final day of the conference. She’ll present suggestions on how managed care leaders can positively impact end-of-life care. Vlahos will reflect on how end-of-life care can impart lessons on mortality but also on how to truly live.
5. A new track on provider perspectives
This year’s conference will feature concurrent tracks on health plan operations (risk adjustment and quality), keys to compliance, digital transformation, and provider partnership and spotlights.
The provider track will include a panel discussion on plan and provider alignment to reduce provider abrasion; a case study on a nurse-led AWV program; a panel on providers addressing social drivers of health; and keys for providers to meet clinical and reporting goals.
6. The venue is amazing
Trust us, you will never want to leave this resort.
In addition to stunning views of the Colorado Rockies and Cheyenne Lake, the Broadmoor Resort sits on 5,000 acres and features world-class dining, luxury accommodations, retail shops, a spa, championship golf courses, tennis and pickleball courts, a state-of-the art fitness center, an outdoor infinity pool, and an incomparable collection of Western Art. 7. The location is breathtaking
If you’ve never experienced Colorado Springs, you are in for a treat.
