Countdown to RISE West 2023: Top 5 reasons we can’t wait to head to Dallas

And the top five reasons we are excited about RISE West 2023:

Number 5:  The venue

Breathtaking. Stunning. Amazing. Perfection.

Those are just a few of the comments on Tripadvisor about the Omni PGA Frisco Resort, which opened its doors in May.

You’ll need sunscreen and comfortable shoes to walk around the luxurious resort, which spans 660 acres and boasts two championship 18-hole golf courses, a lighted 10-hole short course and two-acre putting course, the Lounge by Topgolf dining and simulation experience, state-of-the-art PGA Coaching Center, and Ice House restaurant with hitting bays overlooking the Toptracer driving range.

Even if you aren’t a golf fan, there is plenty to enjoy on-site. Feel like a swim? There are four pools to choose from, including a roof-top heated infinity adults-only pool. There are also 13 signature restaurants, a full-service salon and spa, shopping at PGA Frisco, virtual game experiences, and programmed entertainment.

 Number 4:  The location

The resort is in Frisco, Texas, ranked the safest city in the United States by Smartasset in 2022 and the South’s Best Cities on the Rise by Southern Living 2022.

If you decide to get off the resort grounds and explore the local surroundings, Frisco is located 25 minutes north of Dallas. Here are the concierge’s five top picks, all located 11 miles or less from the resort:

  • The Star: The 91-acre headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys offers shopping, dining, and entertainment in Frisco
  • Frisco Heritage Museum: A historical park with exhibits to explore the rich heritage of Frisco and the surrounding area
  • Museum of the American Railroad: An educational and fun experience for the whole family
  • National Soccer Hall of Fame: Take a tour of Frisco’s newest highly immersive, interactive, and engaging attraction
  • Texas Sculpture Garden: The largest private collection of contemporary Texas sculptures for a family friendly outdoor activity

Number 3: An opportunity to give back and make a difference

RISE West also offers an opportunity to drive social good and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable community members:

Network for a cause and meet like-minded individuals at our food packing event in partnership with U.S. Hunger. Join us at 4 p.m. Monday, August 28, and work with other volunteers in an assembly-line fashion to pack thousands of meals for local families facing food insecurity. The one-hour session is free to attend but requires additional registration.

RISE is also proud to partner with the Wounded Warrior Project to share wisdom and important perspectives from our U.S. military veterans during a special panel presentation on Wednesday, August 30. RISE will make a significant donation to the Wounded Warriors Project in honor of this session. The panel will take place at 9 a.m., Wednesday, August 30, the final day of the conference.

Number 2:  Amazing keynotes

PointClickCare will sponsor a fireside chat with NFL legend Running Back LaDainian Tomlinson. The special presentation will kick off the main conference at 9 a.m., Tuesday, August 29.

Tomlinson will discuss lessons in perseverance, discipline, and selflessness for elite achievement with moderator Ian Strand, vice president of business development, patient pattern, PointClickCare. Tomlinson, currently a studio analyst for the NFL Network as well as a special advisor to the owner of the Los Angeles Chargers, was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017 and the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.

Despite his legendary football status, Tomlinson’s goal is not to be known as a football player. As founder and chairman of Tomlinson Ventures, he is focused on providing funding, mentoring, and coaching in low socioeconomic communities and schools through cross sector partnerships with the Tomlinson Center for Leadership, T Hill Media, 3SIXT Software, LT 21 Sports, and partners like Albertsons, Disabled American Veterans, US Marine Corps, and Tomlinson’s Touching Lives Foundation.

Immediately following the keynote presentation, Office of Inspector General (OIG) Chief of Staff Megan Tinker will discuss the OIG’s approach to understanding risks and opportunities associated with managed care and how that informs the watchdog’s oversight and enforcement associated with Medicare Advantage (MA). She’ll also review the coordination between OIG and MA plans on key issues in combatting health care fraud, waste, and abuse. Mikal Sutton, managing director, Medicaid Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, will moderate the fireside chat with Tinker.

And the number one reason…Top-notch sessions and networking

Of course, the main reason for attending a RISE conference: the content and networking opportunities!

RISE West will feature four preconference workshops on Monday, August 28, and main conference sessions covering the latest in risk adjustment and quality and expanded themes covering member engagement, policy, regulatory updates, and payer/provider alignment. And one of our most popular sessions is returning: You’ll hear direct feedback from a panel of Medicare & MA customers around their experience, access to care, and ways to improve health plan services. The patient focus panel will take place at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 30.

There are also several networking opportunities, including interactive roundtables on Tuesday, August 29 beginning at 4:35 p.m. These speed-networking type presentations feature the latest technologies and solutions for boosting your organization’s endeavors and are 20-minutes long so you can visit several roundtables during the one-hour session.

In addition to networking breakfasts and lunches on both days of the main conference, you don’t want to miss the cocktail receptions that RISE is known for on Monday following the preconference workshops and on Tuesday after the interactive roundtables. Both receptions include drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and networking with peers.
